Baby Lips

Maybelline Baby Lips in Hydrate and Pink Punch

Baby Lips were a huge deal when they crossed seas recently and landed on British soil, fresh from the USA. These nourishing lip balms add a pop of colour, care and altogether gorgeousness to your pout, and so worth the wait.

The two colours I decided to try, were the au natural 'Hydrate' which is clear, and pretty much scent free, but is super hydrating and with an SPF of 20, it's perfect for Autumn/Winter chill and Sun. The other, 'Pink Punch' is a super svelte pop of pink, which adds that coveted moisture and a super cute pink lip, which is a lovely balance between sheer and opaque.

Tangle Teezer Compact Styler

This is literally my third Tangle Teezer. I am obsessed, and simply couldn't live without this product now. It's a desert island wonder if I have ever seen one. I like to keep one in whichever bag I am carrying, plus one readily available in my room for knotting situations.

This compact styler is absolutely perfect for portable use... it's smaller and comes with a little protective case for the bristles, so they don't get bent out of shape on your adventures. Another thing that makes this TT very fabulous, is the fact that it's an exclusive design with Breast Cancer Care charity, so you know you're making a difference whilst looking gorgeous.

If (somehow), you haven't yet heard about Tangle Teezers... they are like the Iron Man of brushes. Forget pulling, yanking and snagging and say Hi Hi to smooth, manageable and very protected locks. The unique design makes it easy to brush through uruly mops and hefty knots without a care in the world.

I love this design, both aesthetically and practically. I have found my newest handbag buddy. And my hair just loves me for it...

What are your haircare tips and tricks?  I'd love to hear from you!

Quick Post - Blackberry, Rhubarb and Apple Crumble

This is a quick post about a really easy crumble recipe. I was inspired by the vast wealth of blackberries which are ripe and ready on the hedges around me. (And soon moving to London, I definitely want to make the most of this country living...).

I just used freshly picked blackberries, cooking apples and rhubarb, but you can use any seasonal fruit! As well as your fruit (around 900g), you'll need 225g plain flour, 100g butter and 50g Demerara sugar for the crumble. You also need some caster sugar to sweeten the fruit, I go with around 50-100g, but do it to your taste!

The quick and easy way is to pick an ovenproof dish, prepare your fruit and pop it in, then microwave for a few minutes until softened. This really saves on oven time! Speaking of which you'll want to pre-heat yours to around 180 degrees.

Once out of the microwave you sprinkle a bit of sugar, (depending on your taste), on top. I tend to keep it tangy, so I rein it in at this point with the sweetening.

Then make the crumble topping. This is simply done by blitzing the Demerara sugar, flour and butter, until crumb-like. If you fancy the old fashioned way; you mix and then rub between your fingers to get the crumby texture.

Once done, just pop evenly over the fruit in the dish and sprinkle an extra bit of Demerara sugar on top for that beautiful crunch.

Now oven time... About 20-25 minutes if you've pre-microwaved the fruit, about 35-40 if not.

The results are amazing. The perfect Autumn treat, and it's pretty healthy too.. So go pick those blackberries and get crumbling,

Lots of love,

Lauren xx

Really Ruby Lipstick

Topshop's Really Ruby

How many Red lipsticks do you need?... I think that's a pretty unanswerable question, because 'Red' can be a lot more than you think. Case in point - Really Ruby by Topshop. This is a Raspberry lip colour, with a Blue undertone (fantastic for making teeth look super white), and perfect for the encroaching Autumn/Winter season. As much as I love an Orange, or 'Fire-Engine' Red, I have been searching for quite some time for a blue based, Raspberry lip... an everyday RiRi (or Ruby) Woo if you will. And I think I may have found it....

Kissable Raspberry

On the Lip

If you're a fan of M.A.C's Ruby Woo (or Rhianna's very similar RiRi Woo for M.A.C), this is the perfect everyday, cheaper sister. At around £8 it's great value for money and provides and very luscious, similar colour with a slightly more of a cream (as opposed to matte) finish. It glides on very easily and lasts for ages! An absolute bargain and  the perfect way to heat up your lips as it gets colder.

Jo Malone - Wild Fig and Cassis Cologne

Wild Fig and Cassis Cologne

This is such a gorgeous fragrance, especially for Autumn/Winter... and as the days are cooling off (and filled with rain), i'd say now is about the time to start embracing the chill. (Almost).

It's a very woody and heady smell, with a strong, deep note of wild fig. I personally love wild fig, I burn lovely figgy candles year round (especially in Autumn), and to me it's very earthy yet exotic. It may not be to everyone's taste, so where possible i's definitely recommend a cheeky try-before-you-buy.

I think it's a very sensual scent, it's almost unisex in the rough, animalistic, woody notes... but the wild cassis (blackcurrent), lifts it to an irresistible feminine fragrance. I receive nothing but compliments when I wear this smell, and it really gets me excited for the cold months ahead, (Winter fashion is the best...), plus it's perfect for those log fire evenings, and swanky (or not) Christmas parties.

Available for £39 for 30ml from HERE

All Boxed Up

Plus, how gorgeous is the Jo Malone Packaging. I want to live in a world of Cream and Black, with the entire air frangranced with their wonderful scents. But that's another story for another day... Although, as an aside, I highly recommend you try their new Peony and Suade, which was just released this month. It is definitely on my to buy list....So watch this space!

Too Faced - The Return of Sexy

Too Faced- The Return of Sexy Eye Palette

The Treasures Within

I bought this beautiful eye palette a few weeks ago, when I spotted it in Boots. At around £40, it's not cheap, but I couldn't resist the aptly named Sexy array of shimmers inside. As well as three blocks of complimentary colours (sort of like you're getting three palettes in one anyway...), it comprises of the lovely waterproof kohl liner in black (ah-mazing), and three little 'how to' cards, for each eye look. Day and Night.

As you can probably tell from the pictures, I couldn't resist trying it before I took pictures. I know, I know... but it's soo pretty. Although, I can probably give a review with more authority now that I have actually used it a few times... so it's probably a good thing *ahem*.

It's seriously wonderful. Seriously. Each 'theme' of colours is perfect to create wonderful eye looks, and the cards (I must admit I wasn't going to use them at first...), are great too! If you simply follow the suggested steps and colours for either a day or evening look, you will get a flawless, professional look every time. And it genuinely works.

I truly love this palette, and alongside all my Urban Decay Naked favourites, this is fast becoming a firm fixture in the world of my go-to makeup. Too Faced, I salute you.

If you want to see further swatches of the colours, of a couple of examples on the looks actually on the eye, let me know and I'll happily post some examples or even a video on my YouTube Channel. Just pop a comment below!

Lots of Love,
